Amy and her husband, an outdoor enthusiast, Ranger qualified combat veteran and member of the Alaska National Guard, launched Humans Outside in the winter of 2015 as a way to encourage others to change their lives and experience everything the outdoors has to offer.
But what they didn’t expect was that working on their Humans Outside project would lead them to make their own huge life change. In the summer of 2016 Luke left the active duty Army, the couple sold most of their furniture and their family packed the station wagon and moved from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Alaska.
Now from their new home outside Anchorage, Amy and Luke are ushering their two boys through a whole new set of outdoor adventures, all the while discovering the power of the outside to heal the wounds of war and the scuffs of life. Although they had never visited Alaska before packing up and moving there, they know heading north was the best decision they ever made.
